This year, I decided to challenge myself to reading 50 books, which will hopefully make a dent in my to-read pile. The first book I've finished:

Poirot Investigates by Agatha Christie.

(This isn't the version I have, but this cover is much cooler.)

I tried reading some of the Poirot stories, but I didn't like him. I've read a lot of Christie, though-her older titles are better, imo. I trolled many a used bookstore, trying to find something I hadn't read yet, and got my hopes up, only to be dashed by a title that had been re-released under another name.

I read a book by Ngaio Marsh, a contemporary of Christie's. I think she's a better writer from a technical standpoint; but she didn't have that emotional grip on me while reading. I don't want to say "warmth", considering they're murder mysteries, but that's kind of what it felt like to me.
