Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie.

This was written over 30 years after the last book of hers I've read, Death on the Nile, and it's really interesting to see the differences. Not in prose or style so much as the emphasis on the decay of the nuclear family and good morals and how young men are now (1969 now, that is) foppish dandies, and what IS the world coming to? There's much less good will toward her characters in this book than what I noticed in Death on the Nile.

She does get worse about that as she got older, especially towards women. I suspect she didn't like the New Woman all that much; and she never was too sentimental about kids.
