Points of randomness

- When I'm in a creative slump, reading this always reminds me that it won't last forever.

- I've been trying to improve my handwriting, which has always been small and cramped, by re-training myself to write with the movements of my forearm instead of my fingers. Now my handwriting is bigger and flowing, but also inconsistent. Practice, practice, practice.

- Love this:

Easter greetings

I don't celebrate Easter beyond eating chocolate, but this is too good to not post:

Spectrum nominees

The Spectrum 21 Award nominees have been announced, meaning there are bunches of fantastic art to look at! (Some of it NSFW.) I especially love "Hot Diggety Dog" by Colin and Kristine Poole, "Fragile Planet" by Bill Mayer, and "Shared Eyewear" by Bill Carman.

A piece of inspiration

Sir Galahad by George Frederic Watts. Seemingly odd that I'd find inspiration in a Pre-Raphaelite painting of a knight from Arthurian myth, considering the story I'm working on is a paranormal about werewolves, witches, and vampires. But one of the characters comes from a family where the knights of legend figure prominently, invoked as models of behavior. This character, whose middle name is Galahad, has had to bear a lot of bad jokes about "Sir Galahad the Chaste."

Boggie: Nouveau Parfum

I stumbled across this music video and thought it a clever, eye-catching commentary on how the conventional standards of beauty are impossible to achieve without digital wizardry. The song is pretty catchy, too.

The daily life of a grandma and her cat

Photographer Miyoko Ihara shows the close bond between her grandmother and her grandmother's cat through a series of photos. Cat photos are ubiquitous to the net, but I find these to be so charming and touching.

Mourning Jewelry

Personally, I wouldn't find peace in wearing a remembrance - I don't even like looking at photos of loved ones who've died. But I can see how others would find it helpful for their grief and loss.

Pronunciation: /ˈpɛtrʌɪkɔː/
[mass noun]

a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather

Via the Oxford Dictionaries.

California has been pretty starved for rain—last time I looked it up, we were six inches below normal—but this morning I finally woke up to fog. It's gone now, but I can still smell the petrichor.
